The Guardian Angel Principle is the glue of accountability that holds a family together. Every young person needs a mentor–a guardian angel–someone who will look after them, offer them spiritual support, and help their parents reinforce their foundation.
These small groups are not social clubs or cliques, nor are they self-help groups. Rather, each GAP Family is unique and focused on the 4-6 young boys or girls who join. Over time, their mentor will develop a relationship with them, eventually planning or connecting them to service projects, liturgical events, and other youth ministry conferences, retreats, and opportunities that will help them get to Heaven!
Every person has an emptiness, a GAP in their heart they are trying to fill. The 20th century brought humanity to the edge of oblivion through world war and sexual revolution. People lost the sense of the spiritual and eternal, and we fell deeply into the pit of isolation, fear, and division. Most people do not have a personal relationship with God, let alone His Son Jesus Christ! Bridging this generation gap through small groups is what unites God’s grace with God’s mercy toward us.
Without our guardian angel and the Holy Spirit to sustain us, it is impossible to live a good life–and that is why we all must embrace the Guardian Angel Principle!
The Guardian Angel Prayer — “Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom His Love commits me here. Ever this day, be at my side-to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.”
The St. Michael Prayer — St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.Be our protection against the wickedness & snares of the devil. May God rebuke Him we humbly pray, and do thou oh prince of the Heavenly Hosts, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls, Amen.
